Choosing a text editor

I was particularly excited about this since it's something I looked into a few months ago, but gave up on. Not this time.

I'm on a Macbook Air, so I tested two of the three, since you had to pay for one and I'm not yet ready to make that commitment!

So.... I think I'm going to go with Text Wrangler. It's super simple and free and that works fine for now. Maybe later I'll switch.

I tested Sublime Text as well and I like the bright colors, but it's almost a little too fancy for me. I kind of like Text Wrangler's Word-look, it's what I'm used to.

I may keep trying both as we progress and see what happens...

Coding by hand

Code
Here's my code- glad that's over!

I did it a few times, but the only web thing I know is basic code, so I found this pretty easy. I use a lot of tags in my everyday work, although I didn't know what some of the codes were, particularly:

<!DOCTYPE html>: I can figure this out, but recall a longer string from a class I took

<meta charset="utf-8">: My guess is that this tells you what language/characters to put the page in.

Looking at other people's pages for the next challenge, I realized I didn't indent so well. I'll definitely work on that....

Why Webcraft?

I've taken some xhtml and css classes in my spare time, but never seem to finish. I want to learn to code and recently found the School of Webcraft for a work project. I'm hoping this time works!

Interesting facts about me:

- I love to sew- I run a sock monkey making company (www.monkeysandmittens.com)

- I love to travel and have been to over 23 countries.

- I recently moved to California (Silicon Valley- hence the interest in programming)

- One of my eyes is two different colors.
